True Life Initiative Transforms Lives of Mentally Ill Homeless in Noida

Noida, Uttar Pradesh, August 23, 2024: The True Life initiative is a noble welfare program launched by Dera Sacha Sauda. It operates under the guidance of Saint Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insan. This program is making significant strides in Noida and surrounding areas. Its focus is on helping mentally ill homeless individuals. The initiative's work encompasses three main areas: rescuing, treating, and rehabilitating these vulnerable members of society. With an estimated 197.3 million people in India struggling with various forms of mental illness and approximately 1.77 million homeless individuals, many of whom suffer from mental health issues, the need for comprehensive intervention is critical. True Life addresses this pressing issue by providing medical treatment, emotional support, and reintegration services to those found disoriented and living on the streets. “Our volunteers work tirelessly to identify and rescue individuals with mental illnesses who are vulnerable and alone on the streets,” says a spokesperson for True Life. “We provide them with immediate care, including bathing, medical treatment, and a safe environment to recover.” The initiative’s holistic approach goes beyond immediate care. Once individuals regain awareness, they receive support in relearning daily tasks and are provided vocational training to help them become self-sufficient. The ultimate goal is to reunite them with their families and reintegrate them into society. Since its inception, True Life has successfully treated and reunited hundreds of individuals with their families. This achievement is particularly noteworthy given the complex challenges faced by the mentally ill homeless population, including social stigma, lack of access to mental health services, and vulnerability to exploitation. The program’s success highlights the critical importance of addressing mental health issues in India. By providing comprehensive care and support, True Life not only transforms individual lives but also contributes to reducing the broader societal impact of untreated mental illness. True Life collaborates closely with local authorities and police to ensure legal and ethical practices in their rescue and rehabilitation efforts. The initiative also works to raise awareness about mental health issues and the importance of community support in addressing this critical social challenge.
