A ‘SPACE’ial Achievement: Students of ATLAS uGDX become India’s first to secure a spot in NASA’s 2025 Human Exploration Rover Challenge

26th November 2024, Mumbai: Students from ATLAS uGDX – School of Technology create history by securing a spot in NASA’s prestigious 2025 Human Exploration Rover Challenge (HERC), becoming the first and only university in India to achieve this. The students successfully qualified for the first stage of the challenge and have been selected for the Remote Controlled (RC) division for NASA HERC 2025. This marks an extraordinary achievement for Indian representation at the event as ATLAS is one of the only three teams globally competing and the only Indian team participating in the Remote Controlled Rover category.   A team of 15 students from ATLAS uGDX – School of Technology will represent India at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, where they will embark on designing and building a remote-controlled rover to handle complex obstacles and terrains that resemble the environments on Mars or the Moon. The rovers will need to be operated remotely, requiring precise navigation and control and must perform tasks such as collecting scientific samples, maneuvering through narrow spaces and overcoming obstacles like rocks, craters and inclines.   Speaking on this significant achievement, Siddharth Shahani, Co-founder and Executive President of ATLAS SkillTech University, stated, “Our students' selection for this prestigious NASA challenge showcases their leadership, vision, and drive to push boundaries. ATLAS SkillTech University is proud to stand behind these young innovators, providing them with the right mentorship, resources, and funding support. This experience will not only shape their personal and professional growth but also serve as an inspiration for many others to pursue careers in STEM fields.”   NASA HERC is an annual global event where teams from across the world come together, share ideas and foster international teamwork. It aims to promote interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines, preparing the next generation of innovators for the challenges of space exploration.   Applications are open for admissions to ATLAS uGdX BTech in CS, AI & ML for 2025   About SkillTech University:                                                                                                     ATLAS SkillTech University is India’s first new-age urban multidisciplinary university.
